Access

  • There is a ramp outside the centre to access the main entrance and the ground floor climbing.

As well as approx. 60% of the climbing space in the centre, the ground floor also contains reception, café, toilets, shower, changing rooms, and lockers.

The first floor climbing area and gym is only accessible via two staircases, one on each side of the building, both made up of two flights of stairs.

  • Closest underground station: Canning Town Underground Station - Jubilee line, DLR & local buses (routes 5, 69, 108, 115, 147, 300, 309, 323, 330, 421, 474

    Closest bus stops: Jude Street - bus routes 147 & 474, George Street - bus route 330, Brunel Steet - bus routes 147, 330 & 474

When you arrive at the Canning Town Underground Station, the best exit to take is for the bus station. The centre is approx. a 7 minute walk from here. The walk is mainly via a pavement alongside the dual carriage, with pedestrian crossings at traffic lights.

  • Cycle parking is directly outside the main entrance of the centre, and is clearly visible from the reception desk. There are Sheffield bike stand which you can lock bikes to.

If you are particularly worried about leaving your bike locked up, we should have space to put it in the back for you - just ask at reception when you arrive.

  • Rise Climbing is in a restricted residents’ parking zone weekdays and Saturdays 08:00–18:30. During these times, you can pay for up to a maximum of 2 hours parking via PayByPhone on Caxton Street North, Nelson Street or Tarling Road. Outside of these times, parking is free.

There is blue badge parking on Caxton Street North.

Our Facilities

  • Bouldering is the most straightforward form of climbing. We climb short ‘problems’ over foam matting to protect our falls. Solo, or in a crew, it’s a workout, some time to yourself, or super social.

We have a traverse wall for warmups and full height walls with new problems every week.

We have shoes and chalk for you to buy (or hire) if you are new to climbing.

The best way to get comfortable with bouldering is with one of our intro classes.

  • We have a small and well equipped training area - everything you need to be able to train for your climbing goals.

Squat rack, bench, stationary bike, free weights, calisthenics rig & rings, finger boards.

We have a Moonboard 2016 and a 42.5 degree set board (don’t ask ;D). We set this from V4 to V12 every 6 months to give you something really hard to run at.

  • We have a small cafe that serves brews and brews*. The bar is open from 5pm on weekdays and 12pm on weekends- but no climbing after beers - they don’t mix well!

*that’s a joke about the words for tea and beer being the same ;) sorry!!!

  • We have a shower and changing facilities if you want to come early or have somewhere to go after.
