Continue Bouldering - a 4 week course
This is a 4 week intermediate bouldering course for adults. Sessions are 1.5 hours and costs £90 for non-members, £60 for members. November dates below:
Tuesday 5th, 12th, 19th & 26th @ 7-8:30pm
If you are a V2/3 - V4 climber, this could be perfect for you.
Yes, a slightly silly name, but also one that makes lots of sense. Continue bouldering is all about giving existing climbers the tools to help them stay motivated, and enjoying (most of the time!) their climbing!
This course is targeted at climbers with a reasonable amount of bouldering experience, with a focus on exploring more difficult climbing techniques, and looking at when to use them. The aim of the course is to help climbers improve during the lessons, while also equipping them with the skills to continue to improve their climbing once the course has finished.
An overview of the course syllabus is below:
Week 1 - Refining Footwork
Looking at fine-tuning the efficiency of your footwork to utilise more power and create more reach
Footwork drills on smears, smedging (smear edging), and contact flags
Footwork specifically on small foot holds
Week 2 - Fancy Footwork
Toe hooks, heel hooks and bicycles, what are they and how we can use them
Toe hook drills
Heel hook drills
Week 3 - Climbing Steep
Deep dive into the twist lock movement and counter-flagging movement which we can use to generate more power from the legs and hips, and which helps us stay on steeper terrain through control and balance
Twist & Lock drill
Flagging and counter flagging drills
Breaking down harder moves on overhanging terrain (route reading and projecting)
Week 4 - Harnessing Momentum
Not a dyno masterclass!
Exploring how to manage momentum (especially for long reaches) and control the power we create when generating momentum
Understanding how to control dead pointing and reduce injury risk of the move
