Week 1 - Discovering Climbing Movement
Learning to push not pull ‘stop pulling, starting pushing’ - utilising strength in legs which is already sufficient to move your bodyweight - ‘if you can get up stairs you can go bouldering’
Harnessing forces generated by pushing through legs and using arms to direct force
Key objectives are developing rockovers and climbing balance
Looking at falling
Week 2 - Exploring Climbing Movement
Looking at the techniques introduced in week 1 in more specific detail (specific foot placement & hold selection) and developing an increased awareness of climbing movement (using body position to make climbing easier!).
Key objective are developing foot placement and twisting (body position)
A bit of climbing jargon - hold types (crimps, slopers, jugs, pinches) etc.
Week 3 - Efficient Climbing Movement
A fine-tuning and compounding session to maximise what has been learnt in Week 1 & 2 and increase control of movement
Looking at how we can utilise momentum in climbing to make moves feel easier (e.g. more dynamic rockovers)
Looking at which techniques are most effective on different terrains (e.g. rock overs on slabs, and twisting on overhangs)
